5 Test Strips
Test strips for measuring pH, chlorine/bromine, active oxygen, alkalinity and hardness of spa water.
pH is a unit of measurement for acidity. It's an unstable value that must be checked regularly. Neither acidic nor basic, pH should be neutral. It's important to know that the pH level must be between 7.6 and 7.8 for active oxygen treatment.
The pH level will decrease with the use of chlorine, bromine, or active oxygen: the more disinfectant you use, the lower the pH level will be. The pH level can also vary depending on the pH of each user's skin or the cosmetic products used, hence the importance of rinsing with clean water before each swim!
If the pH is too low, the water is acidic and causes irritation to your mucous membranes, rusts mechanical parts, and damages seals. If the pH is too high, the water is basic and causes cloudy, green water, the appearance of scale, limescale, and algae deposits.
Use: Test water weekly for personal use and daily for professional use.
- Dip the strip completely into the water, moving it back and forth for 5 seconds, then remove it. Without shaking the strip, immediately compare it to the color charts to determine the pH value and, depending on your treatment method, the active oxygen value.
- Wait another 10 seconds then compare to the relevant color charts to find out the values for water hardness, alkalinity and, depending on your treatment method, chlorine or bromine.
